- Born 1978 in Fukuoka Prefecture. While studying at Ritsumeikan University Hourai started to direct independent movies. After graduating from university, he participated in the production of Shunji Iwai's movie ”Hana and Alice” as an assistant director and later expanded his field of work to directing movies, drama series, music videos and stage play.
