Yamaguchi graduated from the Japan Institute of the Moving Image. He won the Grand Prix in the Young Competition section at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in 2003 with his movie ”Jigoku Koushien”. He is known for live-action adaptations of titles which are considered as hard to adapt like gag comic stories.
