- Born in Shizuoka, Hamamatsu City. Toyhishima's work was selected at the Pia Film Festival in 1994. After graduation, he went to the States to study at the American Film Institute's director course. The genres of his works, both movies and tv series, are broadly diversed including comedy, horror love, coming-of-age and historical shows.
