- Born in Tokyo. After graduating from university, Tsuruta worked at video software companies in the field of publicity. He made his debut as a professional director with the video movie adaptation of ”Honto ni Atta Kowai Hanashi”, a horror comic project that he created by himself. He is called the ”father of J-horror”.
